I can see when a team is reaching its performing phase. It takes a while before they are able to trust each other. They can then ask openly and not be afraid.
High performing teams find rituals to connect on a daily basis. They find ways to solve impossible problems. They deliver transformational ideas.
At the heart of a high performing team is the runway you create for them to co-exist and work as one. These are life principles you encourage, you build into your transformation. You create a team "ba" that allows the team to break through barriers, work as one team. A team "ba" is a shared space - more mental than physical.
Some ideas for you to work with your teams:
#1 We are human after all. Our dreams, our values, our vision matter. It isn’t all about
work. Our life matters. Ask them what matters to them.
#2 We have our little joys. We like to admire sunsets, a furry puppy, sing that song
although we miss key notes. Maybe we need to do more of this.
#3 We tend to lose ourselves in work. Instead we need to make time to play. Resilience
comes from our ability to disengage, to step back.
#4 We need to let our creativity strike when it does. Some teams setup time like
hackathons to promote interaction and creativity.
#5 We need to take that meaningful breather in our day. This is mindfulness that helps
you and your teams be more productive.
Think - It sounds simplistic but try a few of these ideas with your team. Then tell us how the change went. Was it received well? Did you see changes in the team dynamics? How is your team "ba" building? Do you see this working well for your transformation?
